Well, here we go, the official 2014 football season post. Consider this your "this is going to be a long post" notice. As always, we were very excited for football to begin in August. Stephen got a promotion of sorts in the off season and is now the Offensive Line coach at Plano West. This is the position he played in high school and what he has been wanting to coach all along. It meant some longer work days and a little more of a stressful season for him professionally, but he loved it and we sure love our O-line boys!
Let's rewind back to April for the Spring Football game. Cody was just 1 month old so we only made one of the scrimmages, but here are the boys all Wolfpack-ed out for the game.
And this is how Cody spent the majority of the scrimmage, he was clearly very excited about football.
Okay, now fast forward to August. It's the week before school stars and the boys have been in two-a-days for a couple of weeks. Every year there is a cook-out/pool party at a local community center for the team. It's always a fun way to kick off the season!

Stephen and Jake started a new tradition this year of taking a picture the morning of each game day. Here is the first one of the year.
First send-off of the year! We usually never miss one, but this year we skipped most of the send-offs so that Cody could get a good nap before the games.

I was anxious to see how Cody would do at his first varsity game. He was usually in bed at that time, it would be loud and crazy...I wasn't sure if he would sleep, be fussy, or what he would think. He did AMAZING all season. He seriously never had one single meltdown, fussy moment, nothing THE ENTIRE SEASON! He is such a coach's kid already. He loved watching the game and being entertained by all the other coach's kids. I am so thankful for our group of wives, they were my life savers all season long; helping to get Jake to the restroom when needed, loving on Cody so I could actually watch a few minutes here and there, helping me carry some of my game day load of bags, stadium seats, etc. They were really a blessing! Cody would usually hang out the first half, take a bottle at half time, and pass out until it was time to go on the field at the end of the game. Also, a special shout out to the Ergo baby carrier who was my best assistant all season!

Jake was chosen as Star Student of the Week and got to bring home the class bear to have adventures with on Homecoming weekend. Buddy Bear loved coming to the game with us and meeting all the players.
"Game Face" Our center, Travis', sweet parents brought goodies for Jake almost every game. They gave him eye black stickers almost every game. He would wear them all weekend long!

I guess I didn't get any pictures during the game...I'm thinking this was our first loss of the season, to Plano, and it was a tough night. Jake went home and slept in his eye black.

Our player, Soso, and a player from the opposing team were both selected for the Army All-American game (which is a really big deal to those of you who don't live high school football like we do.) They both got their jerseys in a ceremony before the game.
I love that after our team runs out they all take a knee for prayer in the endzone. Jake mimics this over and over when he 'plays wolfpack football'

Halloween just happened to be Senior Night, which is our last home game. This is always an emotional night for everyone. We played the Allen Eagles this night, which is a top team in the nation. We had hoped to have a chance against them this year, but we came up short. Senior Night is always the last home game of the year and the boys all gather for the 'senior walk' on the field after the game.

These pictures are out of order because they are off of Stephen's phone. Back in the middle of the season, Jake's school had a special assembly for the big Plano vs Plano West game. The principal from Plano West was coming to teach the kids some cheers. Jake's principal asked Stephen to come and talk to the kids too. Jake was SO excited that he got to show off his Daddy!

Stephen took these pictures for me during Homecoming week. Every year there is a homecoming parade, but this year they chose to have it start later...right at Cody's bedtime! I dropped Jake off towards the end of practice so that he could be in the parade with the boys, but Cody and I didn't get to stay. There was a pep rally at the school after the parade.
