Jake played TBall this past spring/summer for the first time. I don't know who was more excited-me or him! We signed up with a few friends from school and lucked into a great team with a great coach, the Tigers. Jake learned a lot and had a lot of fun. The season didn't start until May, which overlapped a little with spring football, but I didn't want to let that keep Jake from playing. Coach Chandler actually started practices a month earlier so we had Jake in 2 sports and spring football all happening for a while, it was a little crazy, but it all worked out.

So the story of his first game is a funny one looking back now. It was raining, but they had not called the game. Stephen had football stuff so it was just me getting both boys to the game...at Cody's naptime. I could not figure out why they hadn't cancelled the game, but off we went. It wasn't a hard rain, so they wanted to try to get the game in. Well, 3 kids batted and there was a huge lightning strike. Everyone ran for the dugout. They waited 10 minutes and called the game. Then we got to run to the car in a downpour. It was not so fun, but definitely memorable. Jake was one of the 3 kids who actually batted so even though the game lasted all of 5 minutes, here is his first ever at bat :)
For his age, they play modified TBall, which means they get 4 pitches from their coach and then use a tee. Jake got a hit off his coach for his first at bat!
We had a crazy amount of rain in May, so most of our games got rained out. In order to make up those games, we played Saturday and Sunday for the rest of the season.

Coach also had him play catcher most of the season. He and another boy alternated innings, which they usually only played 2 of each game. The games are run by time, not innings, so after an hour, the game is over. Jake LOVED playing catcher and did a great job!
