What's This?

Jake is not only growing braver in his crawling, but sneakier too! Yesterday he got brave enough to crawl beyond the living room. It was funny because he paused at the edge of the living room and looked around and then kept going, then started laughing while he was crawling. I would have loved to know what he was thinking!

With that in mind, Sunday night we were all playing in the living room. Stephen and I both noticed that Jake was eyeing Daisy's doggie door. He kept looking at it and watching Daisy coming in and out. Sure enough, a few minutes later Jake started crawling for the kitchen. He paused at the edge of the carpet and tile and looked back at us to see if we were watching. When we didn't say anything, he kept going...but, when he saw we were watching, he changed direction and went to the chairs instead. He started playing pull and push the chairs.

We were cracking up watching him because every 30 seconds or so he would look over to see if we were watching him. If we pretended we weren't, he moved closer to the dog door. If he thought we were looking, he would go back to the chairs. He knew exactly what he was doing! Now, we aren't going to let playing with the dog door become a habit, but for this one time it was too fun to watch.
I couldn't get a great shot of him exploring because he strategically put a chair in the way to 'hide' behind.
