JAKE'S FIRST DOCTOR'S VISIT

Today Jake got to meet his pediatrician at his scheduled check-up. He has gained 8 oz since we left the hospital Sunday, which puts his weight back up to 7 lbs, 8 0z. She said he is a very healthy little guy! He is SO strong...he has started lifting his head up on his own when we hold him and today Stephen saw him roll from side to side in his pack-n-play! He has just a tiny case of jaundice, but the doctor isn't worried and says it should clear up on it's own...we just make sure he gets lots of sun during the day. So far, he is such a good baby, we are keeping our fingers crossed he stays that way!

JAKE'S FIRST BATH

Jake thought it was very cold!
Stephen had to do most of the hard part b/c of my c-section

Jake luuuuuves getting his hair washed

Almost all done

The finished product: clean baby!

Stephen and I decided to be brave last night and give Jake his first bath. We tried to remember the tips from childcare class and we think we did a pretty good job! He wasn't so much a fan of the bath part, but he LOVED having his hair washed!

We were discharged from the hospital on Sunday afternoon and Stephen and I were both excited and nervous at the same time! We know the next few weeks are going to be crazy, but we are also ready to get home and find whatever "routine" you can with a newborn. ( I know all of you who are already parents are laughing at us right now!) My mom is staying with us this week and I know she is going to be a big help. Daisy has met her new baby brother and so far she has been really good. She just isn't too sure what is going on yet. Here are some pics of us leaving the hospital and taking Jake for his first drive-thru experience at Taco Bueno.

FATHER-SON MOMENTS

Jake loves to just stare at his daddy
This is one of my favorites!

Is it football season yet?

The boys are worn out!

Here are some of my favorite Daddy-Jake moments so far. Those of y'all who know Stephen, know how much he has always wanted to be a father. He is such a natural at it! He has been such a huge help to me as I recover and calming all of my first time mommy fears. It is very clear that he and Jake already have a very special bond!

VISITORS---DAY 3

Aunt Lori and cousin Julianna
Uncle Kevin

Aunt Lori

Grandpa Perkowski

Day 3 was a little rough for the new mommy and daddy, but we survived. Sleep deprevation is definitely catching up with us. The hospital gave us a complimentary "congratulations meal," steak and lobster, which he had for lunch...even if we had to wait to eat it an hour after it was delivered to the room...yes, parenthood has begun! Grandpa Perkowski came back from his work trip and got to meet his grandson. Jake got to meet his Aunt Lori and Uncle Kevin when the Ruml family came to visit.

Day 2 was a good day for the Tyler family. We didn't get as much sleep the night before, not because Jake was fussy, but because we had to work so hard to wake him up for his feedings! So our overall amount of sleep was not very much. We had my mom and Stephen's dad with us most of the day. Jake was doing his "baby thing"---eating lots and sleeping lots :-) Stephen got to run home for a couple of hours break and a decent shower, which made him very happy! The hospital photographer came by and took pictures of Jake, which means Daddy and I got to dress him in his first "official" outfit today. The pictures were adorable and I've sent out the email proof for most of you that I have emails for. We have survived 2 days of being parents now and we have already learned a lot, but know there is still a lot to learn.

GREAT PICS BY OUR FRIEND CHAD!

Here are some pictures that were taken last night by our friend Chad. He got some great pictures of Jacob and we wanted to share some of them. Thanks Chad!!!
