Memorial Day Vacation Day 3 - Corpus Christi/North Padre

Sunday we woke up early and were off to Harrison's Landing in Corpus Christi.  Daniel had chartered a sailboat for the morning, a 38 foot Catalina!  Christy and Daniel have been taking sailing lessons and wanted to take a boat out and they are such sweet friends that they invited us to tag along, we didn't turn that down!

Love driving around and seeing palm trees everywhere
Our boat for the morning, 'Captain Keith' took us out for 2 hours on the bay
Jake was SUPER excited to go out on a boat, but he did NOT want to wear a life jacket.  I thought we may have a meltdown over it, but thankfully as soon as the Captain told him he had to wear one, he put it right on.
He was MESMERIZED by the waves...he sat still for almost 30 minutes and just watched the water.  He wouldn't pose for pictures or anything!

Since Daniel has some sailing experience, he got to help Captain Keith out with a few things.
Still watching the waves :)
Stephen was in heaven
Cheesin'

Daniel got to steer the boat for a while
Christy and Eve (Roommate and Baby Roommate)
This picture is turned the right way on my computer, but when I load it to the blog it turns and I can't figure out why, sorry!
We saw a barge out on the bay and Jake decided we must be racing it.  We were 'losing' of course and Captain Keith told Jake if he blew on the sail we would go faster, oh my!  I thought he was going to hyperventilate he was blowing so hard!

Jake decided sitting under the canopy was boring and wanted to go sit on the bow of the ship.  Captain Keith said it was okay and off Jake went, he was fearless!  Mommy, on the other hand, was freaking out...boy mom problems!
I told you, NO FEAR in this kid!
Happy boy, he was so proud of himself!
Stephen took some selfies while they were up there.

Can't beat that view
The USS Lexington in the harbor
Jake back safely by Mommy
On our way back in to the harbor, dolphins started following us, it was the coolest thing EVER!  There were quite a few and even thougth I was snapping away, I only caught one good picture.
Someone had a great time!
When we got back to the landing, it was time for lunch so we stayed on the harbor and ate lunch.  The view was amazing and it was seriously the best meal we had the whole trip.

Stephen, Jake, and Daniel
Since it was vacation, we let Jake order a sweet tea for lunch, he was so happy.
FISH TACOS!  They were insanely good!

We were hoping Jake would nap all the way back to the hotel, but of course he stayed awake until we just 5 minutes from the hotel.  So we kept on driving on Padre...just a few minutes past the hotel, this was all you saw

There was NOTHING as far as you could see, it was beautiful!  We let Jake get a good 30 minute nap in and then went back to our hotel.  He wanted to just lay and watch TV for a little while, but then remembered there was a BEACH waiting for him!  I was curious what he would think of it on Day 2.

Stephen went right for the water

Jake still wasn't sure about it, so we built ourselves a sand castle

Then it was time for some football on the beach with Daddy.

We finally got Jake to tell us why he was afraid to get in the water...he thought there were giant crabs in it!  After learning there were NO crabs, he was all set to get in and have fun.  And then we had another problem...he didn't want to get OUT of the water!

Yes, that's my boys way out there in the surf.

Miss Eve woke up from her nap and joined us on the beach

Christy and Eve relaxing in the sand...NOT way out in the surf!
I finally got Stephen to take some pictures of me with Jake...he wasn't happy that I wouldn't take him out as far as Daddy did, but he was having the best time.

We did take a family picture, but no one was happy with how it turned out.  We brought outfits to do an official 'beach family picture' but without a real nap for Jake, it just didn't happen, oh well, we will save it for the next trip!

We finally got Jake out of the water and went back to our rooms to get cleaned up for dinner, we went back to the restaurants on the channel.

This cute thing said, "take a picture of me!"  so I did :)

Our view for dinner
We had some tired kiddos that night!
Eve and Jake wanted ice cream again, so it was another trip to Scoopy's for dessert.  The boys had a race across the parking lot, Eve and Jake were laughing SO hard!
And then another race back to the car!
