Iced In!

One thing I have learned from living in Texas, is that instead of snow in the winter, we get ice.  And when you get ice in Texas, everything shuts down!  Well, last weekend, we had a huge ice storm that most of the local media called, "Icemaggedon." It's amazing how 1/2'' of ice can shut down an entire metroplex!  It started icing Thursday afternoon and didn't stop until Friday morning.  As a result, all schools were shut down on Friday and Monday.  We had a nice 4 day weekend iced in together.  For the most part, my boys did great...but by Monday they both had cabin fever, big time!  We did a few Christmas crafts, but for the most part we hung out in our pjs and watched Christmas movies and took some really good naps all weekend.

When the ice finally stopped on Friday, we took Jake outside to explore everything.  Here are some pictures of the trees and bushes in the yard.

Even though everything is white, it is just ice, no snow :(

Jake was excited to get outside! We brought a big cardboard box outside for Jake to use to 'sled' down the driveway.
He was NOT interested...Stephen did a few test runs to show him what it would be like.  He just kept saying, "Um, no thanks!"

We had icicles everywhere and Jake was so excited!
Stephen got down most of the bigger ones so that we could do 'experiments' according to Jake.  We still have a big bowl full of them in our freezer!
 Coolest icicle ever!
This is what Daisy and I did for most of the weekend!  Cuddled up on the couch with a blanket, watching cheesy Christmas movies on the Hallmark channel.
We also built lots of fires in the fireplace, had smores, homemade chili, taco soup, cinnamon rolls, and lots of other yummy goodness!  It was a fun time, but we were all ready to go back to school on Tuesday!
