Go Mavericks!

This spring, Jake played basketball for the first time.  One of the Kindergarten Dads, who also happens to teach at Wyatt, sent out an email asking if any boys would be interested in forming a Kinder basketball team.  Jake was IN!  Especially since Coach Holland is also the dad of one of his best buddies, Bryce.  None of the boys had played basketball before so this season was full of lots of learning.

Since Coach Holland works at Wyatt, he was able to get the practices moved from PSA to the school, which was awesome.  The music teacher, Mrs Quinones, was their assistant coach.  Her son is also in kinder at Wyatt and was on the team.

A lot of the teams that the boys played had been together for several seasons already.  I don't know how that is possible for kindergarten, but some of these teams were like semi-pro 5 year olds, seriously!  One week there was a true Dallas Maverick in attendance, Tyson Chandler.  His son was on the team the boys played.  The picture is a little blurry because I was hiding the fact that I was taking his picture :)

Arms up, defense!

#9...because Tony Romo is #9

And Dad had to go coach him up...it is really hard on Stephen to just sit in the bleachers and be 'Dad' and turn off  'Coach'

Block that shot!

Defense baby!

Post season pizza party!  The boys had fun and learned a lot.  Hopefully, next season they will have more teams on their same level to play.  It was a lot of fun getting to know Jake's friends and the other parents.
