So, my idea for the summer was to have a theme for each week to loosely base our plans and activities off of. I'm not going into crazy-pinterest mom territory, just fun ideas to keep us from getting bored. Poor Jake didn't get to have the most fun summer last year with a newborn brother so I'm hoping to make up for that. Our topic for week 1-gardening.
We ran to Kroger to pick up a few items....this here is a work out folks!
One of our projects was to make wind chimes out of painted recycled cans---full disclosure, it's two weeks later and they are painted, but still waiting to be assembled :)
We bought some flowers to plant. Jake made a chart in his summer journal to count how many of each color we had.

We found a slug while we were digging up the flower bed
Finished product-nothing fancy, but simple and fun. Flowers, a citronella plant, rosemary and mint.

We made salt dough and each made a garden stone.

Nothing to do with gardening, but we made a quick run to Trader Joes. Jake thinks it's the best place on the planet because of the kids sized shopping carts.

We finished up the week with a trip to the Dallas Arboretum with Auntie Seana and Kacie. I was a little nervous about how Cody would do, but he had a blast and stayed happy all morning and through lunchtime-woo hoo!
We had a super fun week and can't wait for the rest of summer!
