This month has been another month full of big changes for Jake...of course our biggest one came just this week when he started crawling! He is still figuring the whole thing out and his longest 'crawl' has been about 4 feet. He seems to know exactly how far he needs to crawl before he can lay down and stretch out to reach what he is after!

Jake has also started pulling up on EVERYTHING! He always gets up to at least his knees, but often will get up to standing as well. In this picture he had crawled to his toy basket and pulled up and started digging through the toys, he wasn't holding on at all! His legs were helping him balance a little resting on the basket, but he was solid as can be.

Here are some other big moments from this past month:
*Jake can get from laying on his stomach into a sitting position. He is SUPER proud of himself when he does it and will clap and say yay everytime! He has started doing this a few times in his crib as well when he is fighting sleep.
*Jake is officially pacifier free! We didn't plan on that happening this month, but his favorite pacis got worn out and he refused to take another paci. If we gave him a new one and put him down to sleep, he would throw it out of the crib! So after a long week of crying and having fits at bedtime because he didn't have 'his' paci, we were done. Now, bedtime still aren't as easy, but we are working on it.
*Jake only naps once a day. This past week it started moving later and later and it is a true afternoon nap now. We are both still adjusting to his new schedule. It's hard to fit in our morning walk plus errands before lunch and nap, but we are figuring it out.
*Jake eats a majority of table food now. He eats yogurt, toast, all sorts of fruits and veggies, lunchmeat, fish sticks, and pretty much whatever we eat for dinner is what Jake eats for dinner. We just supplement some extra veggies or fruit for him if we need to. He loves meatloaf especially!
*I think we can declare that Jake is saying a few words as well. 'Dada' and 'Mama' seem to pretty discriminate now, meaning he associates those words with Stephen and I, but he also babbles them as well. He has also learned 'uh-oh' from his best buddy, Carter. It's funny because he will say it before he drops something...warning us that he is about to do it! If only he will keep warning us in the future when he's about to do something naughty :) We think he says a few other words, but it's hard to tell if he's really associating them or not: 'dog-dog' for dogs.
He also loves to mimic any noises we make: coughs, laughs, and yelling contests.
*He loves to play 'tag' with Stephen and I around the house. One of us holds him and we take turns being 'it' and chasing Daddy and Mommy around the house.
*He loves to wave and is turning into a big flirt when we go out to the grocery store or running errands.
*He also loves to clap and will start clapping if he hears other people do it or sees people on TV do it.
*He got his first haircut this morning! (post coming soon) He did really well and looks very handsome :)
Here are some other highlights from this month.
Jake got to go and visit Daddy at football practice, he had lots of fun and clapped a lot!
This past week at playdate Miss Kristen and Ava introduced Jake to the fun of tupperware. He instantly found the loudest thing he could find to bang on the floor. He was in heaven and played there forever.
So, that night while I was cooking I got out some of my own for him to playwith. He especially loved the spatula.
Jake also got to see his cousins, Hannah and Hayley, and Aunt Misty when they visited us from Arkansas. This picture of us out to eat cracks me up. 3 babies, 3 bottles, happy times!
Jake, it has been another wonderful month being your mommy. I love your cuddles and kisses. I love your laugh when we play, and how you stop what you are doing when Daisy enters the room and you start laughing just because you see her. I love how proud you are of yourself when you do something you know is a big deal...like sitting up or crawling. I love going for walks with you everyday and how you always let out a big laugh if we see a dog on the trail. I love that in the morning the first person you ask for is 'Dada' but you still smile big when you see it's just 'Mama' that has come to get you. I love all the little things that make you, you because you are the perfect match for us. Mommy and Daddy love you with all their hearts!
