When Daddy's Away...

The end of February always means one thing in the Tyler house, basketball tournaments! This year we have 3 weeks in a row of tournaments. Stephen's team was selected to play in a tournament that was part of the NBA All-Star game festivities; then we also have 2 weekends of Plano ISD tournaments. What this looks like for Jake and I is 3 long weeks without a lot of Daddy time. During a tournament week Stephen has his usual scheduled game at the beginning of the week, then he is also gone Thursday night, Friday night, and all day Saturday. So what do Jake and I do during those long days? We play a lot, and I try not to get offended when Jake asks non-stop for da-da. :)

One of Jake's new favorite toys is stacking cups we inherited from Aunt Lori. He likes to knock them over when they are stacked. And he loves to clap them together and make noise.

The bottoms have patterns cut-out and Jake realized he could see through them if he held them up to his face. Too cute!

Lately, he has started posing when he sees me get out the camera.

One of his new favorite things to do is sit in our big chair and throw himself back and bounce off of it. Of course he bounces all of an inch at the most, but he has the most fun doing it.

And then he will work himself into a laying position and squirm all around, he thinks it is super fun!

He also likes to play with wooden stacking boxes that also came from Aunt Lori. He really likes it when we 'hide' toys inside the boxes and play "what's in my box?"

And here are a few videos from last week: in the first you can see how excited Jake gets when he thinks he's about to crawl somewhere, but he doesn't get very far. the second is Jake playing with his turtle and realizing he can make lots of noise with his toy.

And on the nights Daddy is home, Jake is a very happy boy. Stephen and Jake's new favorite thing to do is give Jake shoulder rides around the house. Jake laughs the entire time!
