We added a new Christmas tradition this year, a trip to Country Christmas Wonderland in nearby Prosper. This was their first year to be open. I saw several friends commenting about it on facebook and checked out their page. It was affordable and looked like fun. We met my bff and her family there and had a blast! It was about 45 minutes away and you actually drove 2 miles down a dirt road to get there, Jake thought that part was awesome!
Ideally, you would probably go at dusk/dark, but since Cody is an early bedtime baby we went up a little earlier. I'm sure it looked amazing at night with all the lights they had everywhere. We didn't bring our jogging stroller, and wound up ditching ours because it was too hard to push around, but other than that it was enjoyable. The first thing you got to do was the 'petting zoo.' Jake wasn't too fond of the animals licking his hand. I thought Cody would love the animals, but when the goats came over he started freaking out. Stephen took him out of the petting zoo and Jake and I stayed to finish feeding the critters.

Next up they hayride through Rudolph's Storybook. Cody really liked this part. We took a hayride around the property with big Rudolph cutout scenes, listening to the story of Rudolph.
Then we checked out the gingerbread village.

They had a lot of fun Christmas scenes decorating the property, as well as a Nativity and Candy Cane 'maze' that they kids ran through about 20 times in a row!

They had a big campfire with marshmallows for roasting, a concession stand for dinner, ice skating, and pictures with Santa, but we had agreed to stick to our budget this year. Next year it will be fun to check out everything they have to offer!
Cody was getting tired/hungry so we decided to drive home and get him in bed. We took a few pictures of the lights on the way out.
We definitely hope to go back next year!
