Poor Cody, just like his big brother he got truly sick for the first time at 11 months. He had a runny nose and cough for a few days, but no fever. You could just tell our happy boy was not feeling good. All he wanted was cuddles and he was not eating or drinking much.
He was sleeping a lot, but since he didn't have a fever we thought it was just a bad cold. After 4 days, he was getting worse instead of better. We took him in to Acute Kids and sure enough, he tested positive for RSV and had a bad ear infection.
He got to do his first breathing treatments and had his first round of steroids. After a few times, he got used to the breathing treatments, but the oral meds were NOT fun. He HATED taking them and I can't blame him, the steroids tasted awful. He also had anti-biotics to take, but usually he got so worked up taking the meds that he threw up everywhere...like massive projectile baby puke. TMI, I know, but it's the truth. We had several NOT fun days and nights, but he finally turned a corner.
It took about 2 weeks to recover from the RSV, and then his ear infection came back. So he had to do another round of anti-biotics. Poor boy, after 3 weeks he is finally much better....and has started teething! It just doesn't end right now :(
