7 Days of Christmas-Day 4
Today, we didn't have an exciting event planned, instead...we got to take Jake to the doctor for his 6 month well-checkup. Jake loves our pediatrician and so do we, but these visits always mean one thing...shots! The only thing we were really looking forward to was seeing how much Jake had grown. No surprise, he is still in the 95% for weight and height! That is actually a small drop from his 4 month visit, when he was 105% for both, but I'm glad he's back on the charts this time! He now weighs in at exactly 20 lbs (gain of 13 oz) and measures 27.75in (he grew 1/4 of an inch) Dr. Sadler said he is perfect and he got an A+ for the checkup. She said to be on the watch for another big growth spurt soon! She isn't concerned about the fact that he still doesn't roll from back to tummy...the fact that he can sit independently and his other motor skill abilities show her that he could do it if he wanted to, he just loves tummy play and is focusing on crawling. The downside of our visit today, was that Jake got 4 shots and one oral vaccine! The funniest thing happened though...by now you all know Jake is famous for "jake smash!" Well, when they give him shots, they have him lie on his back on the exam table, now that he can roll, Stephen and I hold his arms so that he doesn't squirm too much. We had him in this position, when the nurse approached with the tray of needles, cotton balls, and band-aids...and then, BAM! Jake kicked the tray with his foot and everything went flying! I guess since he couldn't smash with his hands, he used his foot this time! If that was his master plan to get out of shots, it didn't work, but it sure was funny! He was very brave during his shots...and so were Mommy and Daddy! He was a tired and somewhat grumpy guy for the rest of the day, so I didn't take any pictures. Don't worry, I will make up for it tomorrow!!! :-)
